Why is the speech-language pathology program at Dalhousie three years in duration whereas other programs in Canada are only two years?

Our program is the only three-year graduate program in speech-language pathology in Canada. We offer profession-specific courses in speech-language pathology that are similar to those offered by other programs. However, whereas the other programs expect students to acquire knowledge in specific foundation or core areas prior to entry, we provide courses in these areas as part of our curriculum. As such, we offer a unique three-year self-contained program consisting of both foundation and profession-specific courses.
