Why is the South African government so weak and spineless in the face of Robert Mugabe?
That would be a little lke the pan calling the kettle black (excuse the punn) South Africa are at present in the process of recovering land from the white land owners. They are going down the same route as rhodesia and will end up in the same position. Therefore, South Africa (as the leader of the African League of Nations) has no right to criticise Rhodesia (or ZIM as some like to call it) when they themselves are stripping land from hard working farmers and handing it over to would be farmers who will sit and look at the land, then sit and look at the land, then sit and look at the land, then, eventually go for a drink!
mugabe is employing the same sort of propoganda as hitler (in brackets) did – based on racial lines, his supporters are blind to the his shortcomings as he is campaigning as being anti-white (anti-jew), the problems of zimbabwe (germany) are down to the exploitation and greed of the whites (jews) and he is a socialist (socialist) who wants to return power to the black africans (germans) essentially this is the same as supporters of the ANC, the footsoldiers of which now make up a proportion of the SA government, and they are blind to the fact that two wrongs do not make a right EDIT – teddy is right no-one wants to intefere, but africa in general is in such a state it needs some form of intervention from the UN or similar
Mugabe is like a little child. He says elect me or I will start another war (like chucking a big tantrum). His supporters must be so stupid and corrupt. The fool has destroyed his country’s economy and caused the deaths and suffering of thousands of people. He has no credibility and appears to have no brain. He has let hatred greed and envy control his actions and is unfit to run a flea circus let alone a country. Yet the rest of the world and the African continent lets him get away with it. He is nothing but a criminal and should be removed so his country can rebuild.
President Mbeki has indeed been very reluctant to take a stance in this instance. I think it may be because he was waiting for someone or another country to take the lead on it and then jump on the band wagon. He has, not to my knowledge, been one to lead. This was a difficult one, I guess, but what he stands to be accused from at this moment others do to. I believe he should’ve taken a very strong stance toward Mugabe as the prospects/prognosis for Zim was not very good…All other powers…African and American etc etc can share the blame for what is happening in Zim…not that they had a hand in it directly but that they allowed it to continue for so long..what were they thinking….I go as far even to say that countries like American should’ve done something before SA (SA is very young in terms of democratic elections etc)….why would any one who has the powers allow one person to destroy a country the way Mugabe has..there must be some sort of stupidity bug going about…so they l
