Why is the Snow Angels program important?
There are more than 140,000 seniors aged 55 and over in Edmonton. Approximately 95 per cent of them live in their own homes. Shoveling snow can be difficult, or even dangerous, for these seniors. Every winter, the City receives many calls from them because they are in need of help shoveling snow. Snow Angels help keep our seniors safer and make our city more accessible. They also help seniors meet their responsibility to remove snow and ice from their walkways within 48 hours of a snowfall under the Community Standards Bylaw.
