Why is the service requirement for Peer Reviewers and Program Participants different?
The difference grows out of different goals for establishing the two groups. The service requirement for participants was set artificially high to keep the applicant pool size manageable for the pilot year. With a maximum of only 25 pilot year participants competing for a very attractive permanent salary enhancement, program designers felt the service requirements for participants (ten years continuous service at Clemson and at least one year in the applicant’s current job at Clemson) was a reasonable starting point toward that manageability goal. If the program moves beyond the pilot test, those numbers could be adjusted significantly based on the pilot year experience.
