Why is the self-service model of food service utilized in UCPS cafeterias?
The self-service model is used in the cafeterias so that students will develop their own habits of food selection. Instead of being given a set plate of food which they may or may not eat, students are able to select those items they will eat in an appropriate quantity for their age. Food handling standards are met and followed by the cafeteria staff in order to ensure the delivery of fresh product.
