Why is the Second Life Mentor Volunteer program closing?

Historically, the Second Life Mentor group has been a Resident-driven, Linden-run program that was beneficial in helping new Residents gain answers to questions about the Second Life virtual world. As the world has grown and our total Resident base has increased, the one-on-one style of help we previously relied upon is simply not scaling. More of the community needs access to the knowledge and skills volunteers have to offer. Linden Lab is dedicated and focused on building robust volunteer programs in collaboration with the Residents of Second Life. We believe it’s more important to shine increased light on how volunteer-driven groups inworld provide help and to also offer new ways for volunteer participation that are scalable and highly visible. We are dedicated to continuing to support these programs and continue to increase visibility and Linden Lab’s support for them.
