Why is the reaction between calciun metal abd sulphuric acid special?

0

Unlike other metal reactions, which go METAL + ACID = SALT + HYDROGEN This doesn’t proceed very well with calcium. All the other metals salts eg MgSO4 are soluble, so dissolve and the reaction proceeds. However calcium sulphate is only very slightly soluble and forms around the calcium metal and a white precipitate is seen. This stops the acid getting to the metal so the reaction slows down and nearly stops.
