Why is the rating of the Chessmaster personality (and some other personalities) lower in Chessmaster 9000 than it was in previous versions?
The engine in Chessmaster 9000 is believed to be noticeably stronger than the ones in previous versions of Chessmaster. However, some innaccuracies in the way that the ratings were calculated were corrected for Chessmaster 9000. So, the lower rating for the Chessmaster personality does not mean that the new engine is weaker, but rather that the new rating is more.
