Why is the price of groceries going up when everything else is on sale?
Sales are just to get you to buy things. Often shops depend mostly on sales to get rid of their stock and many bump up their prices then drop them in a sale so that people think they are getting value for money. Some groceries are going up in price and others are going down a little but overall they are not dropping in price. They go up in line with inflation. People are just being more reluctant to spend money because of the credit crunch and so noticing price rises more than usual. Companies are reluctant to drop prices too much because if they do they will sell more but make less profit from what they sell. I think there is a bit of trickery from businesses and the goverment to make people think that things are getting cheaper so that they spend more.
