It may be part due to your developed society. For example back in the victorian times (or a while ago) there was for example: 1) no litter collection 2)no sealed sewers 3)not very good health care 4)basic medicines These are just a few examples to get my point over. With a lack of all these things disease and illness were rife….and very hard to control, with open sewer rats and vermin could roam free, spreading disease, also attracted by building rubbish….. With all these diseases and not very good medicine developments the average life expectancy was probably quite low, which may have helped control the population. Now with proper sealed sewers and a daily rubbish collection, and pest control, disease spread less easily, and our health care and medicine developments are much more advanced now, therefore the average life expectancy is that much higher. And because this would have happened gradually, so would the population grow gradually……less people are dying of disease and il
