Why is the plunger in the Vac-U-Tube difficult to move?
• First use of Vac-U-Tube: Depending on how long the Vac-U-Tube has been idle, the plunger may be difficult to move upon first use. Solution: Move it. The inside of the Vac-U-Tube is coated with a lubricant during manufacturing. Remove the face plate and move the plunger up and down several times to re-coat the O-ring. • Plunger fails to move at all after cleaning the Vac-U-Tube: Because of close tolerances, the Vac-U-Tube plunger will not slide readily if the inside of the tube is not lubricated. On page 4 of the Vac-U-Tube Operating Instructions, under Maintenance, is the following note: “Teflon/Silicon spray lubricant can be used (either aerosol or liquid spray). Dow 316 (or equivalent) liquid spray was used in the manufacturing process.
