Why is the NATURES TEARS® mist different from artificial tears?
There are many outstanding artificial tear replacement products. These are formulations designed to mimic the complex chemistry of tears. NATURE’S TEARS® is compatible with all artificial tear products and is not intended to replace these products. Artificial tears are applied as drops which some find difficult to apply and which may overflood the eye, washing away the remaining tear film layer. Also, artificial tear may contain preservatives which can cause an allergic reaction. NATURE’S TEARS® is applied as a mist to the face. The mist is designed to augment the moisture component of the existing tear film, which in dry eye is frequently the only component that needs augmenting. The other components, salt and oil, tend to remain constant and usually do not need replenishing. Research shows that only a minuscule amount of added water, in the form of airborne droplets, is required to return the tear film layer to normal volume.
