It is a satire about politics. Jimmy Stewart plays Mr. Smith who is a non-politician that gets elected in the state senate. He was put there to get a bill passed to benefit some corrupt men, but he discovers their plan and fights against them. He experiences first hand the frustration of democracy and uses his honest and moral nature to win everyone over. It is an extremely “feel good”. I especially love the filibuster scene!
