Why is the mathematics curriculum changing to include COMAP (Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications)?
• Our school has realized that it must keep up with the changing needs of all students and better prepare them for further education, training and work. By choosing COMAP’s Mathematics: Modeling Our World, we have decided to make technology and real-world applications available to help prepare your child for the next century. • We are making a commitment to include a regular and focused use of technology in their mathematics classes. • Who developed Mathematics: Modeling Ours World? • Mathematics: Modeling Ours World was developed by COMAP, Inc. a non-profit organization committed to presenting mathematics through contemporary applications. COMAP proposed creating a standards-based secondary curriculum that was one of four projects chosen to be supported by the National Science Foundation in 1992.
