Why is the Math for Nurses course required?
Strong math skills are critical in Pharmacology to ensure that student and graduate nurses are able to correctly identify and report changes in drug dosages and for administering medications to patients. Successful completion of the 15-hour Math for Nurses course is required. Math-0014 is available from the Centre of Continuing studies via classroom or distance delivery. Applicants may also challenge this course using the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition program (PLAR). A mark of 95% or higher must be achieved. Although the pass mark is 95%, students will have three opportunities throughout the course to achieve this. All conditions must be completed by the date specified in the correspondence from the college, but will be no later than July 15 for the September intake or November 15 for the January intake. Applications will be cancelled if applicants do not complete these conditions by the dates shown above.
