Why is the Lavender soap green and not purple?

0

We produce our soap using natural fragrance and essential oils to obtain the vibrant and recognizable Lavender scent. Neither the fragrance nor the oil carry the familiar purple color associated with the lavender flower. We use natural mineral pigments and clays to give color to South of France soaps. Because of this, the recipe used in our Lavender bar soap formulation is a natural Spring green color, and our Lavender liquid is a very pale green. While this may be confusing, the most important point to remember is that Lavender Oil (or any essential oil for that matter) does not impart color to soap. So even though, intuitively, we know Lavender is purple, this color doesn’t necessarily carry through to the soap itself.
