Why is the Kaukauna Public Library sometimes referred to as a Carnegie library?
During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, Andrew Carnegie donated over $40 million to communities to build libraries. The Library Board requested money to build a library, and after many hurdles, did receive a grant to build a library. The architecture of Carniege libraries is easily recognized. One hundred years later, Kaukauna is one of the few functioning Carnegie libraries left in the State.
