Why is the issue of human trafficking so important to The Salvation Army?
Since its inception, The Salvation Amy has committed to ministering to the oppressed and hopeless, to rescue the perishing and care for the dying. We see this as part of our Christian responsibility. In the 1880s The Salvation Army made a stand against the selling of young women and their transportation to Europe, as well as providing safe accommodation and care for women who sought to escape from their forced lifestyle. The Salvation Army’s human trafficking – particularly for sexual exploitation – is as part of DNA now as it was then.
