Why is the IRM Diploma the first such qualification to embrace an enterprise risk management approach?
There have been periodic discussions in the United States that a more advanced or new approach to the subject should be brought forward, but nobody seems to have taken take the bull by the horns on this. One of the problems with risk management right now is that it has changed so much that everybody that is currently in practice is only dealing with part of it. There is not really anybody in the centre of modern risk management who is able to champion and then lead the more advanced approach. The new IRM Diploma represents quite a departure from what you used to see in the United States and indeed, the United Kingdom. >Q: Do you think that risk management qualifications will become the route to greater professionalism? A: I do not know if it will ever get to the point of risk management being considered a profession.
