Why is the Hume Home important to the community?
The Hume Home provides a warm, gracious, loving home to people who want to enjoy their sunset years. It offers stability in a vital city neighborhood. Neighbors and Hume Home residents enjoy each others company and the Hume Home’s spacious yard is a play site for many neighborhood children. It is a beautiful, historic building that was given to the people of Muskegon by a man who helped build this community, Thomas Hume. He was a visionary leader who built the Hume Home at a time when “retirement homes” were a new idea. The Hume Home provides important services to our seniors, stability to the community, and is a beautiful, historical building of which the citizens of Muskegon can be proud.
