Why is the grant limited to trades that are provincially / territorially designated as Red Seal trades?
The 50 Red Seal trades represent 89% of registered apprentices in Canada and a substantial portion of the trades’ workforce. Apprentices who have successfully completed their Red Seal examination have demonstrated that they have the core competencies required to practice as qualified journeypersons in their trade across Canada , where the trade is designated as Red Seal, without having to undergo further assessment of their qualifications.
