Why is the government taxing me out of a job with high road taxes on new cars?
The use of cars has to be reduced. This is not negotiable. Oil will run out, particularly if we keep increasing our energy consumption as we have in the past few years. I’m sure the government is not picking on you. In fact, the tax on a lot of cars has been reduced. We have to reduce our carbon emissions to satisfy European Union regulations. So, the use of high emission vehicles needs to be discouraged. If your job has to go because of this then I am sorry but you will have to move to somewhere that has a future.
I don’t understand your question. Specifically, I do not understand how the road tax is related to your job. If it is because you are involved in the manufacture of cars, then I feel some compassion for you, but it is not road tax that is stopping people buying cars, it is the overall economic climate. If I had the prospect of spending a large amount of money on something I might want, or even need, right now, I would try to delay that purchase. My money is better off saved. Sorry if that means someone is put out of work, but we live in times in which it would be extremely silly to be anything other than selfish. If I don’t HAVE to spend it, right now, I am not going to spend it. What would you want me to do? Spend money that I might well need (probably sooner than later) to ensure that someone I have never heard of, and will certainly never meet keeps their job? Should I spend money I might well need in other threatened sectors, so that those employees can keep their jobs? It may be,
