Why is the government pushing so hard to convert to digital transmission?
They are trying to free the airwaves (electromagnetic spectrum) for other uses due to the profiliation of radio devices. The ‘usable’ radio bandwidths have gotten very full, and by converting to digital transmission, they are freeing some bandwidths for other uses. What those other uses will be remains to be seen, but they are supposed to involve increased WiFi, cell phone, and other radio transmission devices.
