Why is the GEC being replaced with the Core Curriculum?
As a response to widespread dissatisfaction with the GEC on the part of both students and faculty, the University has created a Core Curriculum. The two biggest advantages of the Core are • that it offers students a far greater choice of courses to take, and • the courses themselves are rigorous mainstream classes that the faculty are excited about teaching.
