Why Is The Gap Between Rich People and Poor People So Large In The UK?
If I earn £100,000 a year and you earn £10,000 a year and we both get a pay rise of 10% you get a £1,000 rise I get a £10,000 rise. Even if I am generous and say I will only take 5% this year I take £5,000 extra. This is compounded year on year. The result is that 95% of your money goes on living and only 30% of mine so I have more money to spend on cars and houses and save some. The formula for the widening gap is there and that is without the bosses needing to be greedy. As for it being wrong it depends on which side of the fence you sit. I certainly think it may be unfair but certainly not wrong.
the same has occurred in the USA. On this side of the pond its mostly due to 3 things…..1) deregulation, 2) federal income tax policy, and 3) a concerted warlike permanent assault on labor…those who actually work hard for a living physically with the belief being that if you toil for your living wage, then its not ok for you to make a reasonable salary and have decent benefits like a pension and healthcare and that they will do whatever they have to to put downward pressure on wages like allowing a good chunk of the population of mexico’s lowest class of people into the USA to take jobs away from americans and drive down wages. They have also allowed corporations to import labor from third world countries with special visas like HB1 visa.
Simple really, the rich get bailed out by the government when their businesses go under through greed and dishonesty with untold sacks of tax-payers money, while you and me get clobbered with increased taxes to keep these people in the life style they have become accustomed. All you have pointed out is true, but do you honestly think that anyone will take note of your and my views, I doubt it very much. Its a virus in this country which has thrived too long.
