Why is the first Internet Security Services update package so large?
The large size can be explained by the fact that the first package contains the whole Virus Protection database. The next update will be significantly smaller. The server and the workstation will communicate and compare files, and only the missing files and those that need updating are sent on subsequent interactions. Time and bandwidth are not wasted on sending you something that you already have. Comparing the files happens on a bit-level, so the size of the update package is reduced considerably.
