Why is the fatliquoring bath sometimes not exhausted properly?
Use of highly stable fatliquoring agents having a high content of emulsifier mainly in fatliquoring of vegetable and synthetic retanned leather causes reduced absorption and exhaustion of fatliquor. In such cases, fatliquoring is to be done at lower pH. Addition of unsulphonated oils or fats, proportionate use of cationic fatliquors improve the absorption and exhaustion.
