Currently, King County provides most of the municipal services that Fairwood residents receive. If Fairwood incorporates, King County would still provide most of the municipal services through yearly contracts. The difference is that the City of Fairwood, not King County would be liable to pay the services. Most of Fairwood’s infrastructure was built in the 1960’s. Major repairs and replacements will be necessary and they will be expensive. King County will accept the contract to make the necessary repairs, but the City of Fairwood will be liable to pay for it. For example, in January, a culvert under the 15th green of the Fairwood Golf Course partially collapsed.
