Why is the FAA making changes to the Federal airport certification regulation?
14 CFR Part 139 has not been revised since 1987, but industry practices and technology have changed. In 2000, Congress mandated that the FAA issue a rule relating to certification of airports serving scheduled passenger air carrier operations conducted in aircraft with 10 to 30 seats (except in the State of Alaska).
