Why is the existing NQF being replaced?

This is a government initiative across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is happening in ALL sectors. The QCF is an opportunity to develop units and qualifications in different ways to meet the rapidly changing needs of the workforce. There are currently many excellent qualifications available for the adult social care workforce, but there is often confusion, duplication and a lack of clarity about what qualifications should be undertaken to meet workforce needs. Some qualifications only meet part of the skills and knowledge needs of employers and there are some workers who feel current qualifications do not meet their needs at all. The QCF will allow Skills for Care to take the best parts of current qualifications and combine them flexibly to create new qualifications that meet both the skills and knowledge needs of the workforce.
