Why is the Corps allowing private docks to be permitted on public property?
A. Through shoreline management authorities, as designated by Congress, the Corps manages waterways and adjacent lands throughout the US. In some areas, private use is allowed under easements and special permits. Current Corps policy provides for districts to consider allowing private docks on Corps-managed waters if a variety of criteria are met.
