Why is the channel mode locked to “+nt”?
The “+n” means that no one can message the channel without actually being on it – this is to prevent idiots from trying to annoy us with messages they think to be amusing. The “+t” means that only operators can change the channel topic. This is because some floodbots take advantage of being able to change the channel topic. It is a shame that normal users cannot change the topic but we figured that it’s better to sacrifice that joy than having some stupid floodbot screwing up the channel. If you have a channel topic which you think to be very good, /msg to one of the operators present and kindly ask him/her to change the topic for you.
