Why is the caustic consumption reduced in CFC based technologies?
The CFC is very efficient contactor of aqueous caustic and given petroleum product and since there is no phase break up, the separation of aqueous caustic and hydrocarbon phase is also very efficient, so no carryover occurs there. Since there is no caustic carryover, the caustic consumption is reduced by that amount and which is about 50% of the caustic amount chemically required for the treatment.
