Why is the campground named Anvil?
Anvil Campground has been family owned and operated since 1954 and is now in its 3rd generation of management. Our symbol, the Anvil, comes from our family’s tradition of blacksmithing. The founder of our campground and his father made the original wrought iron work (locks, hinges, shutter dogs, gates, etc…) for Colonial Williamsburg from 1929 to 1935. Our family is very proud of our history. A display with some of the family made items is located in our main building.
