Why is the Bay of Pigs Invasion an important aspect in the Cold War?
The Bay of Pigs was a covert operation drawn up by Dwight Eisenhower, and actually carried out by JFK. We trained Cuban exiles and sent them back into to Cuba to start a revolt against Fidel Castro. The plan backfired and the troops were massacred in just 3 days. This was very significant in the Cold War in that it worsened out relationships with Cuba and Russia, and sparked the Cuban Missile Crisis the following year.
