In Release 14, the export of Windows metafiles (WMFOUT command) captures more empty space (the entire viewport) than in previous releases of AutoCAD as well as the background color of the drawing screen. To control the area of the drawing that is exported, you might find it helpful to use a paper space viewport to achieve the ideal rectangular shape for the export. To obtain an WMF export that does not include the background, try using a freeware ARX application called BWMFOUT.
