Why is the athletic department so concerned about diversifying the students following its sports programs?
Students come to the University of Illinois from across the globe to receive a world-class education. Part of any person’s educational experience is exposing him or herself to new ideas, cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds. Illinois athletics does not believe that this education should cease simply because students are attending an athletic event. Put very simply, diversity enriches the environment in which we live.
