Why is the appearance and the name of ordered drugs distinct from branded?
As it was pointed out above, the chemical ingredient cannot be patented by any manufacturer unlike the name, shape or color of medication as it is considered to be intellectual property. Otherwise, copying the name or the shape of branded medication will entail serious legal allegations. Therefore, keeping the same active ingredient as brand-named drugs, generics are shaped and colored differently.
