Why is the American flag pole on the moon shown in Google Sky broken???
If you saw it on Google Sky I suggest posting a link here so we can see what you are talking about, since the YouTube link does not work. Two things come to mind, however: No picture of the flag could possibly be obtained from here, since it is too small and too far away. It may therefore not be a genuine image. The flag on Apollo 12 was broken. The rod across the top of the flag that was supposed to hold it out horizontal broke from its hinge. However, without actually seeing the image I can’t say which of those is actually the case. [Edited to add] OK, I’ve now seen the image. It’s a mosaic image. The brek in the flagpole is the result of multiple images being put together and the alignment being not quite right.
