Why is the Alaska Performance Scholarship important to Alaska?
Students are the future of Alaska. We lose too many of our college-bound students to the Lower 48 and abroad. The Alaska Performance Scholarship will improve high school graduation rates; increase parental involvement; lead to higher college entrance exam scores; create affordable post-secondary education opportunities; position Alaska’s economy for growth; retain Alaskan students in Alaska; further job training advancement; prepare students for post-secondary education; and encourage students to complete their post-secondary degree and training in a timely manner.
