Why is the AAMA 501.2 test procedure not recommended for testing operable components such as doors and operable windows?

0

The AAMA 501.2 test is a Quality Assurance field check for evaluation of joints, gaskets and sealant details within glazing designed to remain permanently closed. The high pressure stream of water created by this test method is not appropriate for operable joints because the high pressure may deform the weatherstipping causing unrealistic failures. Operable components shall be testing accordance with AAMA 502 for air infiltration and water penetration tests.
