This is because the pressure field initialization scheme of the EOLE mode of the MC2 model assumes the geostrophic balance in order to compute the horizontal pressure gradient. This balance breaks down at very low latitudes, such as 10S-10N. This relatively minor flaw will be fixed soon in an updated release of the software and of the databases.
