Why is SynLube better than Oil?
Conventional Petroleum Motor Oil is a chemically unstable lubricant, at elevated temperatures which are the normal operating temperatures in modern engines, petroleum motor oil decomposes, oxidizes and forms harmful deposits such as gum, varnish and sludge. In fact pure petroleum motor oil (API SA) is quite unsuitable for modern engines, and no engine manufacturers have recommended it’s use since 1970 and most automotive engine manufacturers actually prohibit use of it since 1964 when “Detergent Motor Oils” were introduced (API SC). The currently used and recommended multigrade motor oils (API SJ and SH) contain as much as 15% to 20% of chemical additives that give to the finished lubricant performance and quality aspects that the pure petroleum base oil lacks. Such lubricants although made from petroleum contain important additives that help reduce sludge formation, provide anti-corrosion and/or anti-wear protection, allow the oil to flow better at freezing temperatures and prevent ex
