Why is SyncServer an Activity Monitor hog?

0

My computer has been sitting idle for about a half hour with two apps running but not being used: Firefox and Entourage 2008. When I open Activity Monitor, everything is running at very low activity except SyncServer, which is taking up about 80-90% of the total CPU activity for the entire half hour. My fan on my Powerbook has been running the entire time, which I assume means the processor has been chugging away the whole time. Why is SyncServer such a CPU hog when nothing apparent is happening?
