Why is symmetry of the lateral ventricles in the brain important?
First, asymmetrical lateral ventricles could be a sign of intracranial hemorrhage. Second, damage in one side of the brain can cause asymmetrical ventricular space, whereby the cerebro spinal fluid (CSF) fills in the area of atrophied brain tissue. I’m sure there are a dozen other causes for this, but here are a few to start out with. My answer tells you why asymmetrical lateral ventricles are bad, not why it is good to have symmetrical ones, but I hope I’ve helped a little.
