Why is strategy important to business?
Strategy is very important in business because without it, we have no idea where to go. Looking at the markets of the world today, and specifically the business practices of the USA, we see where a lack of strategy has hurt us. With strategy, pre-planning, we know how Capitalism works; supply and demand, the best products and services coming out ahead, and those who are found lacking must either make strategy to improve, or be left out entirely. Those who believe in Profitism, the worst end of Capitalism, legislate rather than plan. Legislate how they will keep their jobs and profits even when they are incompetent, pass laws to protect their interests rather than allow the market to take it’s course. Make more $ by sending jobs overseas, rather than strategizing how that change will affect the local economy. Then ask for bail-outs to keep the industries from going under. We built our nations’ economy on hard work, intelligence, insight, and gumption. The big businesses (and some small)
Strategy is important in business because it gets all the things you want to do, listed, so you’ll be able to go through them quickly and productively, and not leave anything out. Also, your competition will doubtless have a strategy of their own…..so they’ll get the customers, if you don’t have a strategy. Think of business as a football game. You’ve got to go into a “strategy huddle”, or no one on your “team” will know what to do or where to go!
