Why is sports business important around the world?
Answer Hi and thanks for the interesting question. Sports business is a viable part of the Gross National Product (GNP) in the US and holds the same or similar stature in the world economy. As we see in world championships, the Olympic Games, and other high level international competitions, sport is a business in that it drives economic impact. Its importance from a sociological perspective is possibly equally as important as its economic impact. Without international competitions, exhibitions, and opportunities for athletes to compete, and for fans to view their favorite sports, much would be missing from many aspects of our current economy. Despite the economic trends and downturns, its refreshing to see sport maintain its presence in the world’s economy. We need sport business to drive additional business.
