Why is silk screening best with Water Based Inks?
In our opinion, water base printing is the cleanest and ideal for silk screening and decoratng garments. Because, Water-based inks are defined as those that utilize water as the main solvent, it also has the lowest impact on our environment Although Plastisol is the most popular ink used by printers, silk screening with water based inks produce superior prints because it penetrates the fabric more than the plastisol inks and creates a much softer feel, and is important where a “soft hand” is desirable. A “soft hand” is the condition where the ink film cannot easily be felt with the hand when passed across the surface of the fabric, popular in most “fashion conscious” T-shirt brands. This affect is often used as an argument for why water-based is preferable to plastisol as plastisol has more of a “rubber-like” hand.
