Why is side saddle riding so special?
Side saddle is an exceptionally safe method of riding. The rider is to some extent locked into the saddle by the two curved heads that fit around the riders legs. This means that riders, who, because of disabilities find it difficult and even unsafe to ride a horse using a standard saddle can be offered the chance to develop their skills to a high level and perhaps even compete in the Paralympics. People who have polio, MS, Cerebral palsy or any injuries that affect the legs or spine will benefit from learning to ride side saddle.
