Why is salt used in making ice cream?

0

Rock salt is used because it causes the ice in the bucket to melt, and at the same time be cold enough to freeze the ice cream inside of the canister. If you didn’t use salt, you wouldn’t be able to turn the canister to churn the ice cream.
